Legal Question in Technology Law in New York
Correct Legal Documents for the Internet
I am going to start an internet business soon and in doing some preliminary research, I came upon some information concerning new laws by the FTC, specifically concerning websites. What I need to know is where can I find out the exact correct legal verbage for disclaimers, terms of service, privacy notices, etc. that are now required on the website? I am particularly happy about the new spamming laws that are taking into effect, and now I read that there are other legal issues concerning these notices. Can you please direct me?

Re: Correct Legal Documents for the Internet
There is no one "correct" disclaimer language, etc. It is a matter of drafting all appropriate language consonent with existing laws and your own policy.
In my experience, it is typically a good use of money to retain a lawyer to handle these types of issues upfront (before any problems arise), since it will be a permanent item on your site. In other words, you pay for it once but are able to utilize the fruits of that labor repeatedly.
