Legal Question in Technology Law in New York
Data Confidentiality
I was wondering if there is an official law protecting a person's privacy when bringing their computer to a computer technician for repairs. Is the technician bound by any confidentiality law, that they may not disclose any information regarding that person's computer data unless it is illegal?

Re: Data Confidentiality
Computer technicians are not professionals in the sense that they are bound by any confidentiality laws or professional standards. That said, they, like everyone, are bound by the laws protecting personal privacy and trespass.
