Legal Question in Constitutional Law in New York

Loss of rights under The Patriot Act.

I have a question about the Patriot Act. I understand that people can be arrested and deprived of their usual rights under the Act. Recently, I was detained while getting on a plane because my name showed up on a government watch list. They gave me a slip of paper with a phone number to contact for help but that my name could not be removed. My question is: Do people on government watch lists come under the Patriot Act? Can the fact that I am on this list be used to deprive me of my usual rights?

Re: Loss of rights under The Patriot Act.

Under the Patriot Acr you retain all of your Constitutional rights. What the act does is require a heightened standard of identification and a relaxed standard of cause for appliction of warrants and search devices for law enforcement when a subject is suspected of terrorist activities. While you retain a right to travel, you are subject to heightened scrunity in boarding planes. There is no current mechanism in getting your name off a government watch list.
