Legal Question in Construction Law in New York
Construction Permits
I have been swindled!!!!
10 months ago I signed a contract for 9,000.00 of which 7000.00 has been paid for construction permits
to construct a cellar. The contract called for a minimum of 3 monts of waiting time.
What recourse do I have?

Re: Construction Permits
For a proper answer I would have to look at the language in the contract.
However, I would send a letter demanding that the contractor completes the contract within a specified (reasonable) time. Should the contractor not appear to complete the contract, you would then terminate the contract, retain another contractor to finish the job, and commence an action against the original contractor for damages.
Since you are located in Bronx County, I would also contact the New York City department of consumer affairs and report the contractor.
Mike.
