Is it necessary for it to be written into a construction contract that the contractor clean up his work after the completion of the job?

Re: Constructions contracts

If you do not agree to do it in writing, it will never be done.

Re: Constructions contracts

Legally, the Courts look to the "four corners" of a written contract for the duties and obligations of each party. However, depending on the specific language of the contract certain duties may be assumed. So the best answer given is, "It depends pending the language in the contract."

AIA contracts normally have a clean-up clause. And in the future, I suggest that you have a clean-up clause in your contract.

Finally, and aside from the law, it makes good sense to clean your mess. Why would you ever recommend a contractor that leaves a mess after completion of work.

Mike.
