Legal Question in Construction Law in New York
In our contract we didn't specify the deadline for finishing the job. Our constructor left for three weeks without notifying us to do some other job and told us when we called him that he will come back. Also we do not like the job he is doing. Can we break the contract with him?

You will have to send the contractor a time of the essence letter. Essentially, you are making a completion date a material term in the contract. The date must be reasonable. You must specify that failure of substantial completion by the date will be deemed a default, and that the contractor will be responsible for all damages resulting from the default.
