Legal Question in Construction Law in New York

do I have to give all reciepts and documants

I am a contractor who did a construction job for a non profit org. the job was completed and on budget. now I'am being sued to hand over all my business reciepts and expenses. there was other contractors on the job and they are not being sued to get all there personal information is this legal that they have a right to all my personal documantations. when the job was completed under budget.and i had a contract for a set amount.

I would need to see your contract and meet with you to give you a realistic answer. The general answer is, no, this information and these documents are your property, possibly your trade secrets, and in a fixed-sum contract without an express provision for you to turn over cost accounting information, the owner/develpoper has no right to see the documents. The fact that they are suing you is a wee bit astonishing, so, again I say, one would need to see the contract and meet with you et c. in order to advise you properly.
