Legal Question in Construction Law in New York
Liens
A subcontractor placed a lien for materials furnished on a public improvement job on a prime contractor. The lien was for the amount of the materials and did not include interest. Is the prime contractor liable for interest? If so, may the subcontractor refuse to discharge the lien after the prime contractor has paid the amount in full and the sub has cashed the check? Thanks for your help!

Re: Liens
If the lien was paid in full the subcontractor (materialman) must discharge the lien.
