If there is a mechanics lien on the property. What happens to the property, how long is the lien good for.

A lien on a property means that the property may not be transfered in good title. The lien may also be foreclosed on by the contractor. A mechanics lien lasts for 1 year. The lien may be terminated earlier either by consent (Satisfaction of Mechanic's Lien document), by bond or by Court Order.
