Legal Question in Construction Law in New York
Mechanic's Lien
A contractor filed a mechanic's lien agaginst my property for one amount then four days later he satisfied the lien and filed another one against my property but in my fathers name saying he had a contract with my father and her did not my father had power of attorney to sign my name to contracts. He also filed the lien with his old company name instead of the new amended name and he is now requesting double the amount. I withheld my final payment until he completed the job which he did not do he then filed the lien against my property what should I do?

Re: Mechanic's Lien
It sounds like you have to challenge the lien. Doing so usually involves filing a lawsuit.
