Legal Question in Construction Law in New York

Renovations

We bought a home in July 02 and hired a contractor to do the renovations. This was an FHA loan and the contractor was done by Oct.02. Here we are now in Feb. 04 and are noticing alot of mistakes. We had to have a plumber come in and reset the toilet upstairs and he informed us that he gives the floor up there another year before it caves in. The kitchen floor seems to be settling quite a bit and the header in the kitchen is cracking. There are several bubbles in the drywall and are getting bigger. The outer walls we believe were never insulated.The list goes on.We have no idea what to do as the contractor was paid in full and the job was done over a year ago. Please help us. Thank You.

There is only one thing you can do! You must bring a lawsuit. Do you know if the contractor was licensed (if he was not, you may be able to get your money back)? Were architectural plans prepared? Were any documents filed with the building department? To be successful in such a lawsuit, construction experts must review the defects and prepare estimates for the reconstruction.
