Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
2000.00 deposit
Hi I paid a motor builder a 2000.00 deposit to build me a 400 hp motor over 2 months ago and he still has not built the motor yet and now he is requesting more money before he puts the motor together. Can I request my deposit back and take my business elsewhere ?

Re: 2000.00 deposit
It depends upon your agreement.
Was it in writing? If not, and the mechanic is uncooperative, you will not be able to obtain the $2000.00 deposit back . The statue of frauds requires written proof above $500.
