Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
Automotive Title 'Washing' Scam?
I purchased a vehicle six months ago in New York state and ran a carfax on it before purchasing showing a clean title.
Six months later I have spent countless dollars trying to figure out what is causing the engine to fail. I went to sell the vehicle on eBay and was denied a listing- The vehicle has a salvage title from IN. It seems according to an AutoCheck (More $$ out of pocket) the vehicle was totaled and then sent to NY state where it 'magically' appeared again with a clear title which the dealer sold me.
So after six months, my vehicle is almost dead and I find out I am a victim of title washing.
So I have any legal recourse? Is there a lawyer on here who can speak with me to follow up on this? I am now left with a $14,000 dollar 2006 year paperweight.
