Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
I am being charged for damage in a hotel room I stayed in NYC. They claim that there was water damage to the carpet. Besides a broken sink, which I reported to the maid, when I left there was no "water damage" to the carpet. What are my options? they claim if I do not pay they will turn it over to collections.

I would ask for proof of the damage - pictures, clean-up expenses, etc. That way, if you are taken to court, you would better understand plaintiff's basic claim.
