Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York

A Computer Landed on My Doorstep

Over a year a go I purchased a computer. IN my search I talked with various companies. I finally settled on one but upon my wait I received a computer from another company. I promptly called them and they agreed that it was not my responsibility (that they had made a mistake) Mind you I never signed for this computer. Later, a friend said this may fall under Mail Fraud. The company has stayed away from contacting me but has effected my credit rating. They will not take the computer back now as it has been some time do to my negligence. Am I in my rites to not send it back if it is not my responsibilty? And is it legal for them to be affecting my credit rating. What should I do? Thanks for the help.
