Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
contract for services
We are a small business. We gave a large deposit for a cash register system. The contract states that 30 days must be given for termination of contract, however no clause for return of deposit. Company states that deposit is actually a down payment and is non refundable. This is not stated anywhere in the agreement.

Re: contract for services
Depending on how large a deposit it is, it is not necessarily unreasonable: you haven't actually asked a question. If you entered this agreement and are considering termination, you have identified a potential problem, if you are considering it, have all the terms spelled out specifically.
