Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
I placed a deposit of $9,500 for the puchase of a vehicle with promise to make additional payments to acquire the $18,000 vehicle in which the dealer agreed. Unfortunately I lost my job and cannot continue to make payments. Can the dealer charge me daily storage fees of $35 a day until he sells that vehicle then deduct it from the deposit given?

From what you have written, it is difficult to answer. It would depend on what the terms of the contract are between you and the seller. It is unusual for payments to be made to a dealer (assuming you are purchasing from a dealer). Usually, payments are made to a bank that finances the vehicle. Please contact my office directly if you would like to discuss further.
