Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
Hamptons Holiday
I pre-paid $320 for a weekend as a ''guest '' at a friend's house share in the Hamptons. My friend now has to cancel our weekend due to an unavoidable work obligation. The prepaid weekend is more than a month away. I live out of state, so will not be able to switch my weekend for another date. I requested a refund, but the woman who organizes the house share has refused. There was nothing addressing refunds or cancellations under ''guest policy'' in the information I was sent. My friend did not sign a rental/house share agreement, and received no more information than I did. What are my options?

You might sue in Suffolk small claims court.
