Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
hotel security
i was detained by hotel security for
acting suspicious in the hallway of a
hotel where i was a guest. they called
the police who released me without
charging me for any crime. can i sue
the hotel for illegally detaining me?

Sure you can sue them. Will you win? Probably not. That's the critical thing to figure out.
That said, you could certainly talk to an attorney who does this sort of thing, see what they say.
