My daughter sought legal advice 10 yera ago. She was never billd. She recently received a bill in excess of $9000 with a note that the lawyer forgot to bill her. Is she liable for this bill?

Re: late billijg
TEN YEARS AGO?? That is truly bizarre, as most attorneys throw out their files after five to seven years. To send a bill after ten years is totally inappropriate. Notify the attorney that the debt is time-barred by the statute of limitations and that any further demands for payment will result in a complaint being filed with the Disciplinary Panel. If he forgot to bill you for ten years, I can't help but wonder if he was disbarred or suspended from practice. Lawyers like that give all of us a bad name. Good luck!
