Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
I am leasing an apartment at the Braeside complex in Marcellus, NY. The landlord will increase the rent by 44.00 dollars a month upon signing the new lease, for cable tv service. Can they legally do this. I do not want the service and I do not want to pay for it. Thanks for your help.

Since it is a new lease the landlord may charge whatever he or she wants. Of course, you have the right to not renew the lease and to rent another apartment.
