Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
I live in NY State and I want to terminate a car lease because I have reached the maximum mileage with about 8 months left on a 36 month lease. Do I have to pay the remaining 8 months' payments or can I turn the car in and just pay the mileage overage at this time? The dealer says I owe about $1,800 for the balance of the payments I would have made if I went the whole 36 month term.
Please advise on what I owe in this situation.

You owe the remainder of the lease unless you use your car as leverage to enter in to a new lease with the same manufacturer for a new car; that works best.
