Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
Lost personal check
I made payment of $500 on a business I purchased. The party did not cash the check for about 3 weeks. When I called to find out why they didn't cash it, the wife confirmed that her husband lost the check. He's now insisting I put a stop payment on it or he will take me to small claims court. Am I legally obligated to put a stop on the check and cut him another one?payment

You might ask him to pay for the fee of the stop-payment.
