Re: meaning of?

In New York trial courts, the RJI (Request for Judicial Intervention) is a standard form filed to assign a judge to the court case to move the case forward after the initial preliminaries of purchasing an Index Number and service of process, serving the defendant with notice and complaint, have been completed.

Subject to some exceptions set forth in Section 202.06(b), Section 202.06(a) of the New York Court Rules sets forth that none of the following documents can be accepted by the court until a judge is assigned unless accompanied by a Request for Judicial Intervention, and therefore filing the Request for Judicial Intervention can be a necessary prerequisite to filing any of the following: notice of motion; order to show cause; note of issue; statement of net worth in a matrimonial action; notice of malpractice action (either for dental, medical, or podiatric); application for ex parte order;

request for preliminary conference.

As provided in Section 202.06(c) of the New York Court Rules, the Request for Judicial Intervention must be submitted in duplicate with proof of service on the other parties to the action, except that proof of service is not necessary in an ex parte action.
