Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York

My medical records are now available online and some information is erroneous, and could possibly impact future employment opportunities, firearms purchases, or result in personal liability in the event of an auto accident. My MD's do not know how the false information was entered on my records. The hospital's records dept. is giving me the "run around". Can I sue them if necessary to expunge the records, and provide a letter stating that there were errors entered in my records and be compensated for the process and expenditures to do so?

It is unfortunate that incidents similar to your experiene happens more often than not. An attorney has to provide them with a letter to expunge the records due to misrepresentation, negligence or misfeasance. If they fail to heed, you may have to proceed with an "Order to Show Cause" and the expenses are to be borne by you more likely than not. I do not understand your representation that your medical records are now "online"? You mean medical practitioners have access to your records as opposed to the general public?
