Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York

Privacy Statements

We're adding to our website an area where consumers can register their products. In this registration we will be requesting some basic demographic information (name, address, email address) and some psychographic info (field they work in, application for product).

I'm arguing with our web department stating that any time we collect any personal information from an individual or business we must have a ''Privacy Statement'' on that page. Our web dept thinks otherwise.

HELP!! Thank you, Frustrated Marketing Manager

Re: Privacy Statements

The better practice is to have one, whether it is formally required would depend upon the jurisdiction, etc.

I would inquire as to why the web people are against it.
