Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
Product /Service Contract
Is there a period of time following a contract signing, that you can back out of the agreement? I thought it was three days in New York and I need to know ASAP.
I signed a deal, under extreme pressure, with Direct Buy, on Tuesday. I was told that there was a NO cancelation policy and I could not consider the deal once I left their premises. This was a one time chance of a lifetime opportunity.
The pressure of not being able to leave, think about the deal and then decide, led me to go ahead and sign. I knew better but, in my exhausted state, I did it against my own better judgment.
I haven't slept in two days over this and just need some advice as to whether I can undo this damage. The 72 hour period will be up at 8p.m. this evening.
Thank you in advance for your prompt response.

Just to cover yourself; deliver your written notice of your desire to avoid and not go forward with the contract. Then get anything in writing that they tell you won't let you get out of the contract and have an attorney look at that for you. Leave your written notice with DirectBuy and tell them you're going to your lawyer with the written stuff they gave you. You may not be able to get out of it, but this way you don't pass up any 3 days period, if there is one in NY. I don't know and would have to research it and you need an attorney up where you and Direct Buy are located.
