Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
My retail store provides a service where customers can pay for their merchandise and pick it up at another date. Customers can also have the merchandise they paid for altered and picked up at a later date. How long can we hold these customer owned goods if the customer cannot be reached? What can we legally do to the goods so they do not take up space for years at a time?

At the very least the stoer ought to have a written store policy in line with state and local consumer laws.
