Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
No signed contract
Being sued over $750.00. My one time landscaping stated he made landscaping design for my house, there is NOTHING in writing anyplace that states how much the plans cost. I paid him $750 as agreed and he says it is 1500, and now he has a lawyer writing me saying i owe him another 750 and that i improperly retained the plans. where do i stand on this? Again, there is nothing in writing anyplace about any agreement

Re: No signed contract
Prepare your defense to support your claim that the agreement was for $750. Emails, letters, bills, witnesses would all be helpful to prove your case. An estimate from another contractor could help establish that the services provided were not worth $1500. Good luck!
