Is there a satute of limitaions for the purchase of a illegal decoder of a cable company in order to receive extra chanels to keep a civil action against someone?

Purchaser of the unit is not illegal. Use of the unit is illegal (that is, if you don't already have the channels).
Use of the unit may constitute breach of contract. Statute of Limitations period in NY is 6 years for breach of contract.
