Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York

Can I sue an auto dealership for Negligence and Selling me a bad car?

Bought a used car from a Toyota dealership and a few months in I started having severe issues with the car, car overheating, car stopped accelerating in the middle of driving (with a baby on board mind you.) if we were in heavy traffic we would probably not be here. This car is putting me and my family's lives in danger. I made a mistake buying a used honda from a toyota dealership but thats neither here nor there.

I spoke to the dealership and try to explain to them after a few incidents that they may have sold me a lemon. They insisted it wasn't a lemon car and tried to fix it but the more they attempted to fix the more issues presented itself. They know me name whenever I call the dealership that is how much problems I have had. It got to a point where they basically told me that i have to take the car to honda because they cant help me (the audacity right?).

Fast forward 2 years and I am still unable to drive my car and they refuse to do anything. I have proof of my correspondence with them, the yelp review i wrote them, all the claims that has been submitted through the extended warranty which I have paid for and plan on getting a record of all the repairs that they have done.

I've told them i don't feel safe driving the car because of all the issues, they continue to try to run my credit to get me into a new car even though I have expressed the fact that my credit isnt awesome I just want them to take some of the responsibility because my car has been parked since last December while I am still paying car insurance and car payment! I just dont feel safe getting in the car. Now that I have made a stink again they want me to bring the car in and examine it but they have done this before and nothing came of it.

HELP! do i have any options here?

Did you buy the vehicle "as is" or was there a warranty on it from the dealership when you bought it? Look at your contract. If still confused, you may call me for in office consultation for a fee to look over your documents.
