Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
Taking advantage by an auto dealer
A dealer which I leased a vehicle from a few years ago contacted me offering the opportunity for me to start a new lease with them. I went to the dealer and releuctantly ended up ''financing'' a vehicle. I was concerned about the monthly payment & ability to pay it. The salesman came back with my monthly payment amount & I was not too happy but by that time the dealership had already had the papers drawn up & the plates on the car so against my better judgement I took the car home that night. I have had the car for 3 days now and I know the financing is beyond my financial capability & I strongly feel the dealership pushed me into a bad arrangement and took advantage of me. I just hope you can inform me as to what my legal rights are for returning this car to the dealership. To clarify, I have signed the financing loan papers & I have had the car for 3 days now. Can I give it back to the dealer & what might be the legal reprecussions for doing so?
