Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York

My trade in

I traded my 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada in for a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. I signed one contract, the next week they had me sign another one, and then two weeks later wanted me to sign another one. They never paid the balance of the Bravada, which affected my credit, in fact I paid the payment. So I decided to cancel the deal, went and got the Bravada, which was left in good condition, had a mechanic verify that. Now the transmission is gone. No reverse at all, and driving it is impossible. I need my car for my job as I am in the healthcare field. The dealer states they did nothing to my car and refuses to fix it, after not answering my calls untill I threatened legal action. What can I do about this? This was a shady deal from the get go and I need help! I am in New York State. Please help!

You are right. You need to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office and maybe even the district attorney's fraud bureau. You might also want to file a claim in the local court.

You should speak to a lawyer in your area and have him look over your letter to the AG's office and go with you to the DA. If the value is sufficient then you may also want to sue and have a professional handle the case.
