Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York

verizon robbing me for the second time

Verizon just cut off my long distance again. Claiming that I owe them a debt that I paid for in 2005.

I have a letter from the collection agency that sayes that I + my account number is and was paid in full .

I was wrongfully overcharged to begin with and after tryin and failing to fight a giant like Verizon , I disided to give up and pay.

Now two years later after having full services Verizon shuts my long dist. off and claims that I still owe them 1600 dollars.

I spoke to costumer serv. , and they refered me to the same collection agency. When I called them they again verified that Iam paid in full , at that moment I reqwested the answer in writing which they provided along with my verizon telephone account number.

I believe that there is great encompotance on the port of the Agency and Verizon , Of which I have no part in.

How can I diffend my self?

Can any one help me ?

Pease,

Re: verizon robbing me for the second time

You could change your long distance carrier. The computers of these companies have a problem changing the information. Once it gets in there...

There is little you can do to go against the company unless they have placed something incorrect on your credit rating. If that has happened then you have a credit libel case which could be worth some real money and would get you into Supreme Court.

If you should find that your credit has been damaged because of their recent mistake (the old one you paid and it would be seen as an admission of the debt,)you should seek out an attorney. If you would like to speak to us, you may contact us through the links below.

Good luck.
