Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
A wedding officiant which we have not signed a contract with or made a deposit with to save our wedding date is threatening to take us to court because we would not pay him. He states that my email saying "we would like for you to officiate our wedding, please send us your rates so we can proceed" is a binding clause---note: he never sent his contract or rates even after that email. Part of his requirements for couples is a minimum deposit of $200 to save the wedding date--- we never made a deposit. Should we take his invite to court?
