Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
Three years ago, when I was 17 years old, I called AT&T for a home phone line. I don't remember if I used my social security number or my mom's social security number but they gave me the line. After stupidly making international calls, I got billed $1,400. I paid half of it already but realized that I should not pay anymore because I was a minor when they gave me an account, which one has to be 18 or older to do. Even if I did use my mom's social security number, they did not have consent from her and the name is under my account. Anyway, I would like to know if I can sue to get back the money that I paid them for the international calls because it was their irresponsibility to give a minor an account. Do I have a case? Please help!

You may have been a minor when you obtained the account, but were you 18 years old when you made the calls?
Generally, I do not think you have a lawsuit for the return of the money.
Mike.
