Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

account frozen

My account had been frozen by a law firm. They sent a restraining notice to my bank and they froze my account. I never received anything in the mail (I recently moved). I decided to join a debt settlement agency and include this debt in the settlement. The settlement agency contacted the attorney's office and they would not negotiate with the agency. They informed the agnecy that this debt was in litigation, but I am not positively sure. Can I contact the attorney's office and make payment arrangements? I DO NOT WANT MY WAGES TO BE GARNISHED. Can the attorney garnish my wages without my knowledge?? I don't have the full amount that they are requesting from me. What is the best recourse for me? Should I file bankruptcy??? Please help me.

Re: account frozen

The account was restrained becasue a summons went unanswered. This led to a judgment. This led to the restraint.

CALL the lawfirm and work something out or go to the court that issued the judgment and have if lifted by filing an Order to Show Cause.

Good Luck
