my bank account was frozen

in 1980 my husband had surgery my job paid for part of it we never received any notices about owing money since then today my bank account was frozen and i was told i owe $4125 please help i thought after a certain amount of time, an institution could no longer try to collect a debt

To freeze your bank account there has to be a court judgment. Suggest you check out the paper work.

Your husband has to go to the court where the judgment was entered (bank restraints happen after judgments are entered) and he has to file a motion called an Order to Show Cause. That is a written request (the court provides the form) that asks a Judge to throw the judgment out because you will alleged you had no notice of the commencement of the law suit that resulted in judgment...DENY OWING ANY MONEY...YOUR RECOLLECTION IS THAT THE DEBT WAS PAID IN FULL YEARS AGO...DO THAT RIGHT NOW OR YOU'll lose the account..
