Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Bogus Summons?

I just received a ''summons'' that stated Basis of Venue is:

Defendent's Residence

''You are hereby summoned to appear in the CITY COURT OF

THE CITY OF MT VERNON COUNTY OF WESTCHESTER, at the

office of the clerk of the said Court at ROOSEVELT SQUARE in

said City serving an answer to the annexed complaint upon

plaintiff's attorney,at the address stated below(they wrote the

attorney's address there) within the time provided by law as noted

below;upon your failure to answer, judgment will be taken against

you for the relief demanded in the complaint, together with the

costs of this action.''

This all seems fishy because there is no date or time to appear.

There is no specific clerk and the address they want me to appear

at is their own not Mt Vernon's City Court. On the back there

seems to be a very bad fake of a summons with again, no date or

time to appear but only the lawyer's address. Can this be a legal

document?

Re: Bogus Summons?

It is real. There is no time to appear. You must serve and file your answer in the appropriate time frame.

Good Luck
