Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

I brought a car that was a lemon in 89.

I purchased a car for $11,864.80.The dealer is seeking a judgment of 10,674.44

+ fees of 1,601.16.On my credit report I owe a bal of $4,455.At the time,the car went bad I took the car back to the dealer;The car sat undriven ,the dealer never came to reposs the car.It was my problem as he stated.
