Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York
ca asked for recent paystub to arrange agreement
I recently found out I had a judgement against me when I found my checking account frozen. Upon speaking with the ca rep, he first said I would need to send in 20% of the amount owed before making payment arrangements & then also stated that I would need to send in my most recent paystub. Can't I make a payment arrangement without providing my paystub? I have also realized that they have the wrong credit card account # listed. The credit card # listed is for a Mastercard, the card that I am delinquent on is a Visa. Any thoughts on this?

Yes. FIrst thing is to go to the court where the judgment was entered and ask to speak to the PRO SE (pronounced PRO SAY) clerk). Tell the clerk you had no prior notice of the law suit and you have a good defense (wrong card)...you'll get some papers to fill out. THe papers are a request to the court to have the judgment vacated because you were not served with a summons and complaint and you have a defense...its called an ORder to Show CAuse...do it now...
good luck
