Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

charged

I purchased a plane ticket on my credit card to ensure that I have protection just in case anything should happen. My flight was scheduled for Sep. the 11th 2001 and as one might imagine the flight never reached its destination. I disputed the charges while trying to receive a credit for my ticket. The airline after that event went in to chapter 11 and left me holding that bag. Now the credit card company is after me for the money. I would like to know if the credit card company should have protected me and has insurance to protect their costumers from things like that. Please let me know if I am legally obligated to pay this debt.

Thank you in advance.

Re: charged

It is unlikely you are liable for the debt because your credit card (you have suggested) insures you against non-performing vendors. Provided you alerted the vendor within the required time limit, you are not required to pay.
