Civil court judgement
Can a personal bank acct. be frozen for a civil court judgement, and how would the collector know about the bank account??

Yes, it can be frozen without notice to you.

Yes it can be frozen. However, you may be able to get it released under certain circumstances by filing an order to show-cause. You have a good case if the frozen funds are from social security payments, child support, public assistance, etc., or even if the frozen funds are from your last recent paycheck. Contact the court to find out how to file an order to show cause, or contact an attorney.
