Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Clearing up a Judgement - Procedure

I need to know the procedure for clearing up a Civil Court Case Judgement? Do I just send the Plaintiff a check and wait for them to send me back a Satisfaction of Judgement - Blumberg 242 form? What if they do not send me this form (receipt)? Can I send the plaintiff's check to the County Clerk's office, so they can see that I paid?

Re: Clearing up a Judgement - Procedure

If you send a check make sure you send it with a letter that says that the negotiation of the check operates as an Accord and satisfaction of all debts. Once cashed you can write them and demand a satifaction of judgment be filed. You may have to pay for that. Send all mail CERTIFIED RRR.
