Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York
can i collect a credit card debt from my ex- boyfriend?
During the time that my boyfriend and i were together, he began having problems with his car. He couldn't pay for the repairs on his car so he asked to use my credit card. I agreed but only if he will be responsible for making the payments. He agreed and promised to pay me back. Unfortunately, i didn't think to make him sign anything on paper, so basically we had a verbal agreement. The problem is we broke up, and he refused to make any payments. I am thinking about taking him to small claims court but i don't know if i will be able to prove my case. the only evidence i have is an invoice of his repairs from the body shop and my credit card statement. I want to know if by law i have a case against him.

You do have a case. It becomes a question of
credibility It would help if there were any
other witnesses to his promise to repay It would
also help if he made any repayments
otherwise it is your word it was a loan against
his word it was a gift and a judge could go
either way
