Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Collection agenies rights ( privacy)

Is it legal for a credit card collection representitive to speak to someone other then myself, and send them information about my debt? This person is not linked to my card in any way. Thank you for your help.

I would think not. You do not provide sufficient information to allow me to make a more informed answer but absent some very good reason, your credit problems are nobodies business but your own, and the credit card company. If the divulgence of sensitive credit info embarasses you you may have an action for disparagement and mental anguish against the offender...
