Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York
Collection of Judgment
I have a judgment against an individual obtained in 1992 in the Supreme Court of New York, Bronx County. Minimal collection efforts, if any, have been pursued since entry of judgment. The judgment provides for the judgment amount plus attorneys fees and costs and interest at 9% per annum from the date judgment was entered until the date the judgment is satisfied.
Questions:
1-Is there a time bar after which you can no longer collect on a judgment?
2-If not, has there been a waiver of the right to enforce the judgment for failure to actively pursue collection efforts (could not locate defendant)?
Thank you. -Jaimie
