Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Collections

I had a car repossesed and it was sold at auction. I am being billed for the remaining balance. The collection agency that is in charge of this has called me and I have been making regular payments of 50.00/month. Today I received a call and they said that this is not acceptable and they will not allow it to continue. They said they will be contacting my husbands employer as I am a self-employed daycare provider. Can they legally stop my from making payments on this account? What can happen next? Can they garnish my husbands wages?

Re: Collections

They cannot garnish without a judgment.

Keep making and documenting payments.
