Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

I cosigned for a friend on a vehicle purchase and he's been falling behind on his payments and ruining my credit is there anything i could do to remove myself from the loan and fix the issue? Please Help! Thank You!

you can't get out of the loan...you are the co-signer. basically you are screwed. you have to make up the payments and recoup the money from your "friend".
