Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

being a co-signer

my mother who is 83 yrs old,opened an account with dell computers to buy a computer for my son.he was to pay the bill.nevertheless he was in financial difficulties and could not continue to pay.she is on social security and has a part time job. she has continued to pay for this computer for the past 4 years and still owes a balance of over $3,000. if she were to stop payments,could they take it out of her social security? or wages?she has not quit her job for this reason.thank you

They can't get her social security. SHe should tyr to settle the matter...computers today go for a couple of hundred bucks...!!!

They would sue her for the balance, interest and attorney fees. Once they obtain a judgment they can enforce it by garnishing wages. Pay it off.
